Canvas UCSD is a web-based Learning Management System (LMS) that the University of California San Diego uses to support digital learning.
It enables instructors to create and distribute online learning resources, grade student learning, and foster communication by students engaged in classes.

- UCSD Canvas User Requirements
A valid UCSD ID. and a corresponding password for UCSD.
Your computer or smartphone and Internet service.
An invitation in your email from your lecturer to use Canvas UCSD.
Canvas UCSD Student Portal Login
To login into your Canvas student portal follows these steps:
- Visit canvas.ucsd.edu
- Your student Email Address
- Password (initially set to your registration number if not changed).
- Below are the steps on how you can access UCSD Canvas using the Canvas Student app:
Start up the Canvas application
- Enter the given UCSD Canvas URL.
- Press Log In.
- Enter your UCSD Email Address.
- Enter the canvas password.
- Click Log in to display the Dashboard.
- QR Code Login
Open CANVAS
- Under the Account link ➔ Click on the QR Code for Mobile Login link.
- You will be able to see the Proceed button, click on it.
- Snap a photo of your Canvas web login screen’s QR code.
- View Your QR Code
Open your CANVAS account
- Click on Account.
- Click on “QR code for Mobile”.
- Click on the Proceed and then you will see your QR code.
- UCSD CANVAS Password Reset
In case you can’t log in, for instance, as a result of a forgotten password, there is the UCSD online forgotten password tool.
Resetting Your Password
- Open your browser and type the following web address: log in to Canvas UCSD, then hit enter
- Select the Login button
- Tap on the “Forgot password” hyperlink
- Respond when requested to send a reset link to your email account used for registration
- Select send reset link
- Then, after receiving an e-mail by IT Support, one needs to go to one’s personal mail and open the reset link and click it to reset your password.
- Make sure your password is updated on all devices which are connected.
Access Issues
If you are unable to access your classes, there may be a possibility that the teacher has not granted access to students yet or has set some prerequisites.
UCSD Library
UCSD is a pretty modernistic environment for studies, and the library facilities are also commendable. Students can manage library accounts online.
Library Login
- Login using your UCSD username and password.
- Otherwise, try clicking here using your ID card number and library PIN.
- UCSD Email Login
Log on to the UCSD Student portal
- Click Email.
- You will be prompted to provide your username and password.
- You click “My Email”
- You will be prompted to enter Your Student ID number
- You also be prompted to enter your current network password
