Applications for the Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship program is a fully funded scholarship opportunity made available by the Government of Ireland to students of any nationality to pursue their postgraduate studies in Ireland.
The funding arrangement is an initiative of the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, and managed by the Council.
The awards will support suitably qualified research master’s and doctoral candidates pursuing, or intending to pursue, full-time research in any discipline.
Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship 2024 |Eligibility Criteria
The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship applicants must be able to uphold the eligibility criteria as follows during the 2024 application cycle:
1. International Student Status: Applicants must be foreign students who are entering studies in Ireland. This scholarship, therefore, is open to students of any nationality other than Irish.
2. Being Currently a Student or Employee or Being a New Entrant* at an Eligible Institution:
This means that only applicants based in an eligible Irish higher education institution or research-performing organization will be allowed to apply.
Ensure that the HEI/Research Performing Organization you are affiliated to is listed among the eligible institutions as outlined by the scholarship program.
3. Previous Application History:
Applicants may not have submitted two previous unsuccessful applications to the same programme, including applications to strategic partner themes. This rule applies regardless of whether or not the applicant has moved to a different host institution or changed research topic since any previous submission.
4. Language of Application:
Applications will only be accepted in Irish or English. Please prepare all documents and forms in one of these languages.
Award Benefits
- Stipend: €19,000 per annum to support living expenses.
- Contribution to Fees: Up to €5,750 per annum to cover tuition fees, including non-EU fees.
- Research Expenses: €3,250 per annum for eligible direct research expenses.
