The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship program for 2024 is now accepting applications.

This fully funded scholarship opportunity, supported by the Government of Ireland, is open to foreign students of all nationalities who wish to pursue postgraduate studies in Ireland.

The funding arrangement is an initiative of the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, and managed by the Council. The awards will support suitably qualified research master’s and doctoral candidates pursuing, or intending to pursue, full-time research in any discipline.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship program for the 2024 application cycle, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. International Student Status:

Applicants must be foreign students, also known as international students, intending to study in Ireland. This scholarship is open to students of all nationalities outside of Ireland.

2. Affiliation with Eligible Institutions:

Applicants must be affiliated with an eligible Irish higher education institution or research-performing organization. Ensure that the institution or organization you are affiliated with meets the eligibility criteria set forth by the scholarship program.

3. Previous Application History:

Applicants must not have had two previous unsuccessful applications to the relevant program, including to strategic partner themes. This criterion applies regardless of whether the applicant has changed their host institution or research topic since a previous submission.

4. Language of Application:

Applications will only be accepted in either the Irish or English language. Ensure that your application materials, including any written documents or forms, are prepared in one of these languages.

Award Benefits

• Stipend: €19,000 per annum to support living expenses.
• Contribution to Fees: Up to €5,750 per annum to cover tuition fees, including non-EU fees.
• Research Expenses: €3,250 per annum for eligible direct research expenses.
