The International AIDS Society Scholarship is now open to all persons who are eighteen years or older on 20 July 2024, and working, volunteering, or studying on matters relating to HIV.
International AIDS Society (IAS) Scholarship 2024 (Fully-funded)
For AIDS 2024, the International AIDS Society is again going to offer both in-person and virtual scholarships. While applying, mention the type of participation you wish to join and also the kind of support you will need to participate.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicants for the IAS Scholarship must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
- Abstract presenters; workshop facilitators and co-facilitators; and Global Village organizers and co-organizers whose abstract has been selected for the conference
- Applicants from low-income and middle-income countries
- Applicants who belong to key populations or people living with HIV
- Young people and junior investigators below the age of 35
- Applicants who did not previously receive a scholarship for an International AIDS Conference.
Scholarship Benefits
In-person attendance:
- In-person and virtual participation—providing access to all sessions at the conference venue and access to the virtual platform
- Travel sponsorship in the form of a prepaid economy class return ticket from the nearest international airport in your country of residence for dates of the conference and pre-conferences
- Accommodation sponsorship in the form of a single room in a budget hotel for the duration of the conference and any approved pre-conferences
- Daily subsistence allowance for the duration of the conference and any approved pre-conferences
Virtual participation:
Registration for virtual participation, which includes full online access to all hybrid conference sessions
Accessibility support for virtual participation (as needed, based on connectivity needs of selected applicants)
Application Procedures
How-to-Apply: In order to apply for the IAS Scholarship 2024, eligible applicants will be required to respond to questions on background, experience, and motivation for attending the conference. They shall upload a letter of recommendation, which must
- Must be in English from a manager or colleague who is familiar with your work, volunteer experience, or studies in HIV and who will serve as your referee;
- Bear the referee’s organization, company, or institution letterhead;
- Be dated not more than two months prior to your submission date and signed—either original or digital—by your referee. This letter explicitly references you and supports your scholarship application to AIDS 2024, stating why you would be a good candidate for this scholarship.
Please note that the uploaded documents have to be completely readable and open correctly; if we are not able to view or open your documents, your application will be deemed invalid.
In the application form, applicants will be able to indicate the format of participation they prefer and ask for different kinds of organizational support.
Applications are submitted only through the conference account. Applications sent by email or regular mail are not accepted. You can create an account if you do not already have an IAS profile.
