The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Scholarships 2024 are awarded to international students who seek to study for a postgraduate or master’s degree, carry out doctoral studies, or pursue research fellowships at any university in Germany.
The scholarships are purposed to finance outstanding students, enabling them to focus all their energies on their academic and research pursuits in Germany.
Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Awards Scholarships 2024 for International Students
The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Scholarships 2024 are only available for international students from Tanzania, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya, and Ethiopia. The scholarships enable these students to continue their studies at one of more than 400 universities in Germany.
Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Scholarships 2024 | Eligibility Criteria
For one to be awarded the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Scholarships 2024; the applicant must have met the following conditions:
- Be a holder of a university degree,
- Above-average academic performance must be proved,
- Be no older than 35 when applying,
- Have good knowledge of the German language (B1* or B2 level),
- Be actively engaged in voluntary work,
- Plan to study a minimum of 4 semesters at a university in Germany,
- Possess a broad general education and distinct interest in political issues,
- Have a positive attitude towards democracy and human rights,
- Be open to develop their personal points of view and practice tolerance.
- Are highly motivated and able to convince us of their goals in life.
- An adequate command of German must be proven for all grantees before starting their studies in Germany. The Programme requires a minimum (level B2) examination.
Required Documents:
Master Students
Master Students who hail from one of the countries of Tanzania, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya, or Ethiopia and wish to apply for the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Scholarships 2024, must:
Download and Complete the Application Form: You can download the application form from the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung homepage or via their online scholarship portal.
Append the Following Documents:
- Curriculum Vitae: Detailed information in a CV regarding your academic background and previous voluntary work or social commitment.
- Letter of Motivation: A letter indicating your motive for applying for this scholarship, stating your future academic and career goals.
- Exams: Submit the certificates of exams translated into German if the originals are not in English.
- Study Performance Records: Copy of study performance if one has already studied at a German university.
- Proof of German Language Skills: Proof of German language skills at the level of B2.
- Academic Letter of Recommendation: This has to be written by a university professor or a teacher holding at least a doctoral degree, in formations regarding the student’s academic qualifications and potential. It should not be more than two months old.
- Personal Letter of Recommendation: This is a letter talking about the student as a person- interests, values, social commitment, etc. The writer of the recommendation should not be the same as the academic recommendation writer.
- Proof of Voluntary Work: Proof of any voluntary work one may have done; this is also optional.
- Admission or Matriculation Certificate: This is a letter from your German host university confirming admission or matriculation; it is also optional.
PhD students
In addition to the above documents required for master’s students, PhD applicants should attach the following:
- Application Form: Duly filled application form.
- Curriculum Vitae: A detailed CV, specifying your academic background and earlier volunteer work or social commitment.
- Letter of Motivation: This should include a short letter motivating your application to the scholarship and describe your future academic and professional career goals.
- Examination Certificates: Certified copies of your school leaving and university qualification certificates, translated into German if they were not originally issued in English.
- Study Performance Records: Should you study at a university in Germany, copies of your academic records.
- Proof of German Language Skills: Proof of German language skills at level B2
- First Academic Letter of Recommendation: First letter of recommendation by a university professor or a teacher holding at least a doctoral degree, inform the admission committee about your academic qualifications and potential.
Second Academic Letter of Recommendation: A letter from your doctoral thesis supervisor. - Detailed Description of Doctoral Thesis (Exposé): A detailed description of the doctoral thesis project regarding research question, relevance, theoretical approach, motifs, schedule, and bibliography.
- Written Confirmation of Doctoral Program Admission: If possible, proof or confirmation of unconditional admission to the doctoral program by the faculty or department to which you wish to be enrolled.
- Proof of Voluntary Work: Proof of any voluntary social work you may have done; this is optional.
- Admission or Matriculation Certificate: A certificate indicating your admission or matriculation at a German University, if available.
How to Apply
The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Scholarships 2024 invites applications from interested candidates. An online application shall be made with all the above information before the deadline of application. The steps for application are outlined below:
