Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Québec Merit Scholarship for Foreign Students, applicants must meet the following conditions:

  1. Nationality and Immigration Status:
    • Applicants must not be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.
    • They must not have applied for permanent residence under Canadian immigration laws.
  2. Field of Study:
    • The scholarship is open to foreign students or researchers from all research sectors, including health, humanities and social sciences, arts and letters, natural sciences, and engineering.
  3. Doctoral Merit Program Scholarships:
    • Candidates are eligible for doctoral merit program scholarships from the Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur (MEES) in the first nine semesters of their doctoral studies.
  4. Postdoctoral Scholarships:
    • Alternatively, applicants who have submitted their doctoral dissertation by January 15, 2024, are also eligible.
