Canon Collins Sol Plaatje Scholarships to Study in South Africa, 2024
The Canon Collins Sol Plaatje Scholarships provide the opportunity for financial support but also contribute to placing scholars in an enabling environment wherein they can adequately pursue their academic fronts. Scholars are encouraged to make effective use of the opportunity to strive for excellence in their various research pursuits.

DETAILS | Canon Collins Sol Plaatje Scholarships
The Canon Collins Sol Plaatje Scholarships will fund scholars to enable them to pursue interdisciplinary studies and register for a doctoral research that focuses particularly on the pursuit of climate justice.
Applicants are requested to pay attention to the following guidance in the preparation of their applications, ensuring that these align with priorities, themes, and focus areas of the program.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a Canon Collins Sol Plaatje Scholarship, applicants are expected to:
- All students applying to the Canon Collins Sol Plaatje Scholarships must be from any of Namibia, South Africa or Zimbabwe
- Applicants must normally be residents in one of the above countries
- Applicants must be in possession of a good first degree, minimum second class, upper division or equivalent, or about to graduate in the year of application
- Applicants must be studying or applying to study at a South African university
Eligible Courses
These awards will only be awarded to individual students pursuing studies in these three thematic areas of interest:
- Justice, including Climate Justice; Law; Economics and Politics
- Education policy and practice
- Humanities, including Literature; History; Anthropology and the Arts
Only apply if your programme of study falls into one of the above disciplines.
