The Canon Collins Sol Plaatje Scholarships offer a unique opportunity for scholars to pursue interdisciplinary studies and doctoral research, with a particular emphasis on addressing climate justice issues.
Applicants are encouraged to carefully consider the guidance provided and ensure that their applications align with the program’s priorities and focus areas.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for Canon Collins Sol Plaatje Scholarships, applicants are expected to meet the following conditions:
- All students applying to the Canon Collins Sol Plaatje Scholarships must be from either Namibia, South Africa or Zimbabwe
- Applicants must be normally resident in one of the above countries
- Applicants must be in possession of a good first degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent) or about to graduate in the year of application
- Applicants must be studying or applying to study at a South African university
Eligible Courses
Awards will be given to only those students whom are studying in the following three areas:
- Justice, which includes Climate Justice, Law, Economics and Politics
- Education policy and practice
- Humanities, which includes Literature, History, Anthropology and the Arts
