Fulbright Foreign Student Program 2024 | Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Fulbright Foreign Student Program 2025, the following citizenship criteria must be met by the applicant:
- Eligible Countries: These are those as determined by the Fulbright Program. The countries may differ from year to fiscal year and depend directly on the funding available for certain programs in a given fiscal year.
- Applicant must be DOCTORAL OR PhD students who have completed a significant amount of their graduate program and have obtained the endorsement from the home institution. Note: MASTERS and First-Degree applicants are NOT qualified or eligible for this program.
- The applicant should have an excellent scholastic record and high English proficiency.
- The applicant must obtain the minimum score in the selection tests, TOEFL: 90
- The applicant must demonstrate high motivation and serious commitment to completing the program as outlined and returning home.
- Applicants should be ready to provide a comprehensive proposal for the research to be undertaken, stating objectives, methodology, and expected results. It must, therefore, mention why the particular project conducted is key and put relevance towards your field.
- The applicant should make a strong case as to why their research should be carried out in the United States. This could include particular resources, facilities, or expertise that are unavailable in your home country or access to academic networks.

The Fulbright Foreign Student Program provides full financial coverage to the successful applicants. Such benefit packages include the following:
- Round-Trip Airfare to the U.S.: The Program caters for the participant’s round-trip airfare from his/her home country to the United States of America.
- Settling-In Allowance: A settling-in allowance is provided to assist participants with initial expenses when settling in the United States.
- Monthly Stipend: A monthly stipend is paid for living expenses such as accommodation, food, transport, and other personal expenses.
- Housing Allowance: A housing allowance is given to be used to cover accommodation expenses for as long as they are in the United States.
- Books-and-Supplies Allowance and Computer Allowance: Allowances for books and supplies to cover the actual costs that students and scholars actually need for their studies and research, and computer equipment.
