A teaching profession bursary scheme that aims to support students financially during their undergraduate studies in a selected career path: Teaching graduation.
Funza Lushaka Bursary Scheme 2024 | Eligibility Criteria
The criteria for one to be eligible for the Funza Lushaka Bursary Scheme are as follows:
Age Limit:
Only applicants who are 30 years or younger may be allocated a Funza Lushaka Bursary.
Restrictions on Allocation:
No employee of a Higher Education Institution, nor their spouse, nor their dependents/children, may be allocated a Funza Lushaka bursary.
Program Restrictions:
The Funza Lushaka bursary does not pay for extended programs. Applicants must be registered for their degree or PGCE for a school in a Faculty of Education and must be studying for one of the priority areas.
Specialization in Priority Subject Areas:
Applicants must be admitted to a B.Ed. degree or PGCE specialising in two or more of the priority subject areas identified by the program.
Academic Ability:
The applicants must have good abilities in academics, as shown by the record and qualifications.
Commitment to Teaching Career:
Such applicants need to indicate a commitment to teaching as a career, such as a desire to work with young people and feel enthusiastic about a professional teaching career. This is in addition to the readiness to meet and overcome challenges with integrity.
Placement Commitment:
Candidates must be willing to teach in any school within a circuit/district in which a student may be placed by the Provincial Education Department (PED).
Minimum Academic Criteria:
This will mean that students must, as a minimum condition, satisfy the criteria or requirements for a grade or academic performance level to be eligible for the bursary.

- Go to the register page Register by providing personal information
- Login to the system using user name and password created when registering
- On the e-Services Menu select Funza Lushaka Bursary Scheme
- Enter the OTP received on the preferred channel
- Accept the Terms and Conditions
- On the dashboard menu click on the 2024 application button
- Follow the steps to complete the required field with your information
- Accept the declaration to confirm the information captured
