The WAAW Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2023/2024 scholarship program to undergraduate African females that have gained admission to attend a university/college/institute of higher education in Africa.
WAAW Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship 2023/2024 for Female African Students
Financial Aid:
The scholarship funds are for tuition for students towards education, textbooks, and other academic related amenities.
Community Service:
Winners will be asked to establish a STEM Outreach Chapter on their campus to promote and share STEM awareness and education on the students and the community.
Such chapters promote peer interactions and peer mentorship while promoting the sharing of information and practices between the STEM professionals.

Perspective students who will like to be considered for the WAAW Foundation Scholarship 2023/2024 must meet the following criteria:
- A female student of African origin, living and studying in Africa.
- Currently enrolled in undergraduate B.Sc degree program.
- Studying in a university or college in Africa.
- Studying STEM related courses in a university or college in Africa.
- Demonstrable financial need and be from a very poor or underserved community in Africa.
- Below the age of 32 years.
- It is opened to all the students who are in their first and second, then finally those in their third year, with a five years course.
Eligible Course: All fields of Engineering, All Computer Science – related fields; Science & Mathematics; Industrial Chemistry; Biochemistry; Zoology; Agriculture; Geography; Statistics… etc;
Application Procedures
Applicants for the WAAW Foundation Scholarship 2023/2024 must apply online before submitting any other required documents by the deadline. Requirements
Complete Online Application:
One may need to visit the official website of the WAAW Foundation via the scholarship application online portal.
Register and create an online account and fill the online application form with valid and relevant data/information. Personal and Contact Information:
- Name, Date of birth and Nationality
- Email address, phone number and mailing address.
- Background in Training and Family Details
- Complete the sections on qualifications obtained, including schools attended, any significant academic successes, and related certificates.
- Complete the relevant fields related to your family, should there be dependents on the family of the applicant.
Statement of Need
Write a statement about a condition that makes you in need of the provided scholarship funds and how you intend to use the money in case of being awarded.
Please share a summary of your current financial situation, including any unusual or extenuating circumstances, and how has this been a driving factor in your seeking for funding support.
Indicate how you are utilizing the scholarship to achieve your end goals of completing your studies and preparing for your career.
Essays:
Write essay responses from presented prompts on a variety of topics:
- Your future career goals and how do you expect the WAAW foundation scholarship would assist in your future goals (500 words or less).
- The role of female education in African advancement in research and development and/or improvements or changes in African economies (300 words or less).
- Your proudest achievement to date (500 words or less).
- Reasons for needing a scholarship and how it can help you in your education and career plans (10 sentences or less).
- Add Academic/Professional References:
- State two academic or professional references by name in your application.
- Application does not require letters of recommendation and transcripts for application but may later be asked for after shortlisting
- Proofread your application to ensure that every part of it is complete and accurate.
- Submit your application within the application deadline.
